The Pendar International Film Festival

The theme of our virtual film festival in 2021 was “Iran - Today,” where we hope to expose audiences across the world to various concerns that are experienced in modern day Iran. The films we screen in this festival show a wide array of social aspects of life in Iran, whether they be related to the environment, women’s lives, or ethnic traditions and folk customs. For a full list of films see: Pendar Film Festival
(March 18 to April 17, 2021, extended to June 1, 2021)
Environment
In our films on Iran’s present day environment, we display topics ranging from the drying of Lakes Hamoun and Urmia, as well as documentaries exploring the effects of the pollution of the river Karun (falling into the Persian Gulf) on local ethnic populations, and Tehran’s smog impacts on urban life. Many of our films center on the social and economic consequences of these environmental dilemmas, showing how modern Iranians have been left to grapple with the results of decay and destruction.
Social Justice
The Academy for International Culture and Professional Education (AFICPE) promotes this mission by cherishing diversity, establishing social justice, and fostering a peaceful, amicable world.
